Udaibir Das is Vice Chair of the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum (OMFIF) and Senior Advisor to the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (IFSWF). His career spans the International Monetary Fund, the Bank for International Settlements, and the Reserve Bank of India, with a sustained focus on governance, fiscal and monetary frameworks, and macrofinancial resilience across advanced and emerging market economies. At the IMF and BIS, he contributed to shaping key elements of the international financial architecture, including work on sovereign wealth fund governance, central bank transparency, regulatory consistency, and public debt and reserve management frameworks. He led Financial Sector Assessment Program missions across systemically important economies, with experience grounded in direct engagement through major episodes of financial stress — from the Asian financial crisis to the Covid-19 shock. His current work focuses on the frontier issues reshaping sovereign finance: the evolving role of China in the global financial system, climate finance, and the implications of technology and AI for sovereign risk and macrofinancial dynamics. A Distinguished Fellow and Visiting Faculty at leading think tanks and public policy schools, and a member of the Bretton Woods Committee, he advises central banks, governments and international institutions on governance, asset–liability management and capacity building across emerging and frontier markets. He writes regularly on global finance and policy, appears as a guest on leading podcasts, and is an invited speaker at major international forums.
